Organized (and pretty) Make up Brushes

Well, I finally got around to cleaning and displaying my make-up brushes.   Last week, I posted about all the fabulous and beautiful ways to organize your make-up.  My make-up and brushes were hiding away in an old and dirty travel bag under my sink.  There. I said it.  I'm so ashamed.  My own post was the inspiration to doing this.

Tips and Tricks Tuesday

Hello, Everyone!  I hope you are all having a blessed week.  Mine could be going better.   I am dealing with my computer completely dying....boo hoo....so I'm now blogging on Mr. Lewisville's Mac.  I can not figure out this computer at all!  Everyone talks about how great these Macs are but right now, I don't believe them!  Change like this is hard.  Sure, it might go faster and it may make my blog life a little easier.  So far, I keep messing up and I'm lost within programs.   Thus, the reason for the late post today.
Anyway, enough about my technical difficulties and apparent lack of Apple knowledge.  Today is tips and tricks Tuesday.

Jute Twine to Up-cycle and Organize

Well Hello! Hello!  I wanted to show you all a quick and easy organizing basket you can make in just a few minutes.  I introduced these "baskets" this last week when I revealed the up-cycled pantry makeover.  I wanted some baskets to organize my paper goods, but instead of buying them, I decided to make them from something we love here in Lewisville.

First, this is how they turned out.

They look great in my pantry and people have no idea they came from these....many, many, of these.

The Up-cycled Pantry Makeover!

Here it is....The pantry is finally made over!  (At least half of it is) and it looks Be-Ute-Ta-FULL!  Isn't that a weird word to describe a pantry?  But I think it fits.  You be the judge.

The best part of this pantry makeover is that (mostly) everything your see here is up-cycled.  That means many of my organizing containers were headed for the trash, but I re-purposed them instead.  That makes the cost for this pantry makeover less than....wait for it...$10!

Tips and Tricks #37 & a movie review?

Hello there!  It was quite a weekend here in Lewisville.  I finally went to see Les Miserables with the Mr.  We sneaked in an afternoon date and had a great time.  We both love Les Miz and have seen it a few times at the Pantages theater in Los Angeles.  Honestly, I like the movie, but (and please don't hate) it really doesn't compare to the live theater production.  Has anyone else out there seen both?  What did you think?

The story itself is very moving and the songs are incredible. I find myself singing "On My Own" over and over again- my favorite, obviously. When you see the live production, the singers can really, really sing.  It's the kind of singing that moves you; the kind that you can feel coming from your heart.  The actors in the movie did a great job, and since most of them aren't professional singers, their talent shines. The movie just didn't cut it for me though.  I think my expectations were too high.  I wanted it (and expected it) to be like the theater production, but it wasn't.   Anyway, the good news is that I went online after watching the movie to see where the U.S. tour of Les Miz would be.  Hello!  It's coming to Denver!  I'm saving up for tickets and praying it's not sold out before I can get them.

A new bread box...from a box!

Hello friends!  I am so excited to tell you all that it is a whopping 50 degrees here in the mile high city, and it feels amazing!  The sun is shining and it is soooo warm compared to what it's been like.  We were at 1degree on Sunday and 5 degrees on Monday.  This warmer weather is so welcomed here in Lewisville.  I was able to take advantage of the weather and paint outside for the first time in weeks yesterday.  Quite a thrilling day, let me tell you.  Today's project isn't about paint though.  I'm making those final touches on the pantry and those chairs I've been telling you all about.  I was working on both yesterday, outside, in the warm 50 degrees!  Did I mention how warm it is now?  Anyway, in addition to painting, I also managed to make a new bread box...out of box.

It turned out pretty great I think.  Can you believe it came from this?

Tips and Tricks Tuesday #36- Makeup

Good day, good day, friends.  Welcome to another Tips and Tricks Tuesday.  I think this is week number 36, but  I've kinda lost track, so just go with me on this one.  If you' re new here, welcome to Lewisville Love.  Every Tuesday I like to share some of my favorite tips and tricks I find from all over the blog world, Pinterest, and right here in Lewisville.

Today, I thought we should talk about make up. I know.  It's a little out of my normal post topic, but again, go with me on this one. I'm not someone that wears make up everyday.  Staying at home and schooling my kids doesn't really call for a dramatic morning makeover.  Brushing my hairr and teeth and washing my face is as far as I go with an every day head routine.  When I go out, even if it's just running errands, I usually put on three, sometimes four things- powder foundation, mascara, and eyeliner and/or blush.  If it's summer and really hot outside, I skip everything.  Everyone's make up routine is different.  I get that.  Some ladies won't go outside without wearing it, some could care less.  For me, it all depends on how I'm feeling that day.

Resolved to set goals

Good morning, friends.  How is your new year going?  I've been a little slow, maybe a little low key, when it comes to talking about New Year's Resolutions.  I personally don't make resolutions. I've always felt that if there is something in my life that needs changing, the change should happen at that moment, not wait for the new year.  With that said, I do like to make goals for myself and my family.  There is a difference between goals and resolutions.  Resolutions state a desire to do something or change something in our lives, like the ever popular- I will loose weight this year.  A goal states how I will get to a desired change, like I will walk 3 times a week for 45 minutes in order to loose weight.

Tips and Tricks Tuesday

Hello all!  We are getting back to a normal routine here in Lewisville.  We've had the last few weeks off of school, and we loved every minute of it.  Yesterday, the kids returned to their studies, and since I'm the home school teacher, I returned to work.  Is it too early to say I can't wait for summer vacation????
So since we are back to normal, relatively speaking of course, we're continuing on with our Tips and Tricks Tuesdays.  If you're new here, welcome! On Tuesday I like to share a few things I found on Pinterest that might be of interest to you and hopefully help you out in your own homes.

Do you like the new Tips and Tricks logo?

Today, I thought I'd go over some great uses for one of my favorite cleaning products- Baking Soda.  I buy a huge bag of it from Costco about 2-3 times a year.  Baking soda is such a great cleaning agent.  I use it all over my home because I hate using chemical cleaners.  Here are the top ways I use Baking soda for pennies in my cleaning routine and other areas.

What to do with those Christmas cookie tins?

Well, hello! hello!  I'm back from my little Christmas/New Year vacation.  I didn't go anywhere; I just decided the holiday season calls for hanging time with my family, so that's just what I did.  It was great.  Next week, we are back to our normal (home)school schedule, and I should be back to my normal blogging schedule.  As I grow older, I've come to appreciate those schedules.

Today, I wanted to share something practical.  It has to do with all those plastic cookie tins we get during the holidays.  Did you get any of those?  I did.  And I did last year too.  They sit in the pantry holding my holiday and special occasion baking supplies.  This year, I decided to do something about them, meaning put my own little twist on them.  Want to see?

Can you believe these are plastic cookie tins?  They used to look like this.
